Het werkt door DNA-gyrase en topoisomerase IV te blokkeren, enzymen die essentieel zijn voor bacteri\u00eble replicatie.<\/p>\n    <p>In Belgi\u00eb is het gebruik ervan door de gezondheidsautoriteiten nu beperkt tot ernstige of specifieke infecties, vanwege de soms ernstige toxiciteitsrisico&#039;s. <strong>Het mag niet langer worden voorgeschreven bij milde infecties als er veiligere alternatieven bestaan. <\/strong><\/p>\n  <\/section>\n\n  <section>\n    <h2>Indicaties<\/h2>\n    <p>Toegestane en aanbevolen indicaties in Belgi\u00eb:<\/p>\n    <ul>\n      <li>Gecompliceerde urineweginfecties en acute pyelonefritis<\/li>\n      <li>Chronische of acute bacteri\u00eble prostatitis<\/li>\n      <li>Ernstige infecties met Pseudomonas aeruginosa (longen, botten, huid)<\/li>\n      <li>Bevestigde tyfus, multiresistente shigellose<\/li>\n      <li>Behandeling en post-expositie profylaxe voor inhalatie-antrax<\/li>\n      <li>Post-expositie profylaxe van Neisseria meningitidis meningitis (eenmalige dosis van 500 mg)<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n    <p>Niet gebruiken voor:<\/p>\n    <ul>\n      <li>Eenvoudige urineweginfecties<\/li>\n      <li>Ongecompliceerde sinusitis<\/li>\n      <li>Niet-ernstige acute bronchitis<\/li>\n      <li>Gemeenschapsdiarree zonder ernst<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n    <p>Bronnen: BAPCOC 2024, EMA RMM<\/p>\n  <\/section>\n\n  <section>\n    <h2>Hoe werkt Ciprofloxacine?<\/h2>\n    <p><b>Ciprofloxacine<\/b> remt twee bacteri\u00eble enzymen \u2013 DNA-gyrase en topoisomerase IV \u2013 en blokkeert daarmee de DNA-replicatie en -reparatie. Het gevolg is dat gevoelige bacteri\u00ebn snel sterven.<\/p>\n    <p>Door verkeerd gebruik is echter resistentie en ernstige bijwerkingen ontstaan.
